KubeCon 2018 (KubeCon + CloudNativeCon)

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North American 2018 kicks off in just a few days, and we at Liatrio couldn’t be more excited to attend this sold-out conference.

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North American 2018 kicks off in just a few days, and we at Liatrio couldn’t be more excited to attend this sold-out conference. In fact, 12 of our engineers are coming to Seattle for this event, which brings together adopters and technologists from open source and cloud native communities.

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon 2018 Sessions

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon 2018 has a ton of great sessions to choose from. We’re planning to focus on the following themes this year:

Observability is about being able to determine how systems are performing and proactively identifying and addressing potential problems. Good observability is hard, and there are different challenges in a cloud setting vs. on-prem. We’ll be attending several talks focused on the Advanced Auditing API in Kubernetes and on how teams are leveraging Prometheus and Grafana.

Security is always a hot topic, especially for our enterprise clients who are moving to the cloud. Enterprises understandably have a heightened sensitivity to giving up the control they have in an on-prem setting. We’re looking forward to hearing about Shopify’s bug bounty response and the resulting container hardening best practices.

Serverless is an area that always sounds cool, but it often comes with lots of unanswered questions. We’re especially excited to learn about real-world, practical uses of serverless technology and get insights into how to decide whether or not to go serverless. Fortunately, several sessions focus on practical applications of Knative.

We also expect to participate in a lot of hallway conversations about the recent IBM acquisition of Red Hat and how that acquisition is shifting the cloud landscape.

Our Game Plan

At KubeCon + CloudNativeCon 2018, we’re planning to taking advantage of opportunities to share thought leadership and learn from our peers. As always, we love connecting with anyone interested in talking about enterprise transformation. We’re also hoping to talk to our fellow attendees about Liatrio’s new accelerator. We’re at the early stages of developing an open, lightweight, extensible agile quality engineering testing framework, which we’re planning to share with the community.

Along those lines, members of our team welcome the opportunity to meet up during KubeCon + CloudNativeCon 2018. Keep an eye on Liatrio’s Twitter page (@Liatrio) for updates about what we’re up to.

Finally, while in Seattle we’ll be holding an offsite meeting for our consulting practice since we’ll have so many of our engineers in one place. We’ll be spending some time together to plan for what we want to help our clients accomplish in 2019. We’re looking forward to strengthening our alignment as a team as we continue to expand and grow our practice across many clients.

We hope to see you in Seattle!
